History of Kernpharm

A visionary pharmacist
The beginnings of Kernpharm can be traced back to a pharmacist with visionary ideas. In 1960, pharmacist Mr Van Rijn decided that over-the-counter remedies and health care products should be available in his pharmacy alongside the usual prescription drugs. He had sensed how society, which was becoming increasingly more aware, was also attaching increasing importance to maintaining good health.

The business was taken over by his son, Joost van Rijn, in 1974, who capably and cautiously guided Kernpharm through years of stormy development.
Towards the end of the year 2000, Hans van Nuland took over the helm as general manager becoming responsible for what can certainly now be called a dynamic, internationally oriented company. Joost van Rijn remained involved in the development of strategic policy until October 2009.

Kernpharm has been a part of the Sanofi Group of companies since 1 November 2009. Sanofi is one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world. Together we are working towards a healthy future and a new phase in our company's history.
